Our Story

Tammy Ross is a pediatric occupational therapist with more than 30 years of experience helping children and families overcome barriers to participation. As the founder of Bridging The Sensory Gap, Tammy is passionate about helping caregivers understand why their children behave the way they do, by looking beyond behavior to the underlying sensory and neurological processes that influence everyday life.

Her practice is grounded in evidence-informed occupational therapy and the principles of Ayres Sensory Integration®, with a focus on caregiver education, sensory processing, regulation, motor planning (praxis), and participation in meaningful daily occupations. Tammy believes that when caregivers understand how their child’s nervous system works, they become the most powerful agent of change in their child’s life.

Through individualized caregiver coaching, consultation, and educational programs, Tammy equips families with practical strategies they can confidently use at home, in school, and in the community. Her goal is not simply to reduce challenging behaviors, but to build understanding, strengthen relationships, and increase a child’s ability to successfully participate in everyday activities.

She has also spent many years partnering with churches and community organizations to promote meaningful inclusion for individuals with disabilities and their families. Tammy is committed to continual professional growth and advanced training in sensory integration so she can bring the highest level of evidence-informed care to the families she serves.

Our Approach

Understanding changes the response.

Instead of asking:

“How do we stop this behavior?”

We begin by asking:
“What might this child’s nervous system be telling us?”
Understanding sensory processing isn’t about finding one strategy that works forever. It’s about helping you become increasingly confident in recognizing your child’s needs and knowing how to respond.
Tammy's Philosophy

Understanding builds bridges.

When we understand how a child’s nervous system experiences the world, we can create the support they need to thrive.
You know your child. Tammy knows sensory processing. Together, you build understanding.
